Give yourself the space and time

to deepen into your essence and find your truth

The Mission of Wonder Mountain is to be a welcoming retreat space for soul nurturing, personal creative practice, guided introspective journeying and healing with nature which helps people navigate their lives, especially at moments of transition and uncertainty. It is also a refuge for those wishing to be buried in a natural way and tended to lightly and with love.

. . . . . .

The Vision of Wonder Mountain was held for many years before the land was acquired in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. We have always recognized the need for sacred ground on which to explore the depths of ourselves and celebrate the transformational periods of life. Wonder Mountain was created to be in service to these elemental practices, including threshold ceremonies. creative exploration, somatic repatterning and nervous system recalibration, and community celebration.

We are actively seeking collaborators who believe in the vision and want to help sponsor our development and next steps. Priorities at Wonder Mountain include:

  1. Updating the support house to include therapy rooms, communal ceremonial space, functional kitchen, sauna and bath area, office, and recording studio.

  2. Creating access for vehicles on some of the land, support parking for green burial site and retreat guests, roads and landscaping.

  3. Temporary or moveable gathering spaces such as teepees, yurts or geodesic domes. Creation of an outdoor ceremonial space for retreat, Inipi (sweatlodge) ceremony ground and outdoor kitchen.

  4. Investment in green building infrastructure (earth bag beehive buildings) for individual retreat spaces and community gathering space, as well as burial site welcome area and refuge. Development of training program to build more of these structures and demo the techniques to interested people.

  5. Creation of community gardens containing healing herbs, flowers and food forest to support the guests and beautify and enrich the land, as well as make herbal medicines and healing products.

  6. Collaborations with guest teachers, gardeners, builders, and healers who want to visit Wonder Mountain in support and reciprocity.

  7. Epic bathhouse with steam room, sauna, and healing therapy rooms which is accessible to those camping on the land in retreat.

  8. Ongoing support for program supplies, gardening infrastructure, general maintenance, retreat necessities, education and development.

  9. Eventually bringing in horses for an equine therapy program to support healing and for transportation on the property as it is vast and mountainous.

Wonder Mountain needs community support to keep growing and thriving!
